Police agencies in Broward County, Florida, partnered with more than 200 members of the U.S. military to conduct Special Operations Forces training in the streets and buildings of several undisclosed locations, leaving some local residents unsettled.
The aim of the training was to prepare the participants for sudden overseas combat missions, the Sun-Sentinel reported. Members of the Air Force, Army, Marines and Navy participated.
Local police, meanwhile, were confined mostly to helping with traffic diversions and keeping away curious members of the public.
But the training for the unaware can prove alarming.
A video clip of one of the exercises showed troops converging on some individuals – who are posing as prisoners – and marching them toward an internment building. Blackhawk helicopters, meanwhile, swarmed overhead.
The drills were held in the same county in 2014.
But some see an ulterior motive, contending the government is trying to acclimate Americans to the idea of martial law.
