The Obama Department of Justice, led by activist Attorney General Eric Holder, is worried that “lone wolf,” home-grown terrorists could strike so-called “soft targets” anywhere in the country at any time. In fact, Holder said recently, it is a scenario that keeps him awake at night.
According to a recent CBS News interview, Holder — who has announced that he is stepping down from his post — said the White House plans to hold a summit February 18 in Washington, D.C., to examine “the root causes” of terrorist attacks such as the one recently in Paris, France.
“‘Countering violent extremism’ is what we call it–[so] we can deal with the root causes of what it is that attracts these young men to these really negative ideological groups,” Holder told CBS’ Face the Nation program — without mentioning that the “violent extremism” linked to the overwhelming number of terrorist attacks today are committed by militant Islamist adherents.
“Homegrown terrorism”
That said, Holder told the program’s host, Bob Schieffer, that for some time, the Justice Department has focused increasingly on the potential rise of “homegrown terrorism.”
