The death of aid worker Kayla Mueller, reportedly during a Jordanian airstrike on the Islamic State in the Syrian city of Raqa, is being exploited by the government as it moves to continue and expand its war in the Middle East.
Praise for Mueller came a day before the Obama administration and members of Congress called for intensified military action against the U.S. trained terrorist army.
“Kayla dedicated her life to helping others in need at home and around the world,” Obama said in a statement on Tuesday. “ISIL is a hateful and abhorrent terrorist group whose actions stand in stark contrast to the spirit of people like Kayla.”
Obama specifically used the memory of Mueller when he promised to attack the Islamic State. “No matter how long it takes, the United States will find and bring to justice the terrorists who are responsible for Kayla’s captivity and death.”
Suspected terrorists are not “brought to justice” by the United States, but rather eliminated in drone strikes, renditioned to secret CIA torture chambers, or sent to the concentration camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
