Bah humbug!

Sierra Leone is banning Christmas and New Year’s celebrations this year due to the deadly Ebola virus currently ravaging the country, the government announced Friday.

Soldiers will be policing the country to force wandering people back home.

Palo Conteh, head of the government’s Ebola response unit, made the announcement to reporters in the capital, Freetown. Current regulations have shut down bars, nightclubs, and public meet-ups, but this is the first to ban working and loitering outside.

“We will ensure that everybody remains at home to reflect on Ebola,” he said.
