Dictator Obama has signed yet another executive order that altogether bypasses Congress, this time to address the growing threat of “superbugs” that no longer respond to common antibiotics. CNBC reports that the order will award a $20 million prize to whoever can come up with a viable testing regimen for identifying and tracking the spread of resistant bacterial infections.

The order calls on the appropriate government agencies to submit a plan by February outlining how the superbug threat will be tackled over the next five years. A new task force has also been established, co-chaired by the secretaries of Defense, Agriculture and Health and Human Services, as well as a special presidential advisory council made up of “non-governmental” experts.

Included in this nice-sounding plan is a call to double the current public investment into antibiotic surveillance, stewardship, and research and development. This would bring the total annual investment to $900 million, which of course will be covered by taxpayers. And who will be getting all this fast cash? Drug companies, naturally.

“This is an urgent health threat, and a threat to our economic stability as well,” stated Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
