The first Ebola vaccine trial to be tested on African soil began on Friday, as the international efforts to contain the deadly epidemic continued to mount.
The outbreak is the biggest global health challenge since the emergence of AIDS, a top U.S. health official said Thursday during an address at the World Bank.
Over 3,800 people have been killed since the current outbreak began, the vast majority of them in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, according to the World Health Organization.

Tensions were high in Spain, as the first person to contract the virus outside of West Africa, a Madrid nurse, lay seriously ill.
