British airports are to quiz passengers arriving from West Africa in an attempt to prevent Ebola entering the UK.

Downing Street is expected to announce that screening process will begin within days, just hours after Defence Secretary Michael Fallon ruled it out and warned against creating ‘hysteria’.

It is thought questionnaires will be used to establish where passengers have been and whether they have been in contact with anyone with the deadly virus, and temperature tests could be introduced if medical advice suggests they are needed.
