Health experts today urged any potential Ebola patients in the UK to call for medical assistance rather than walk into hospitals seeking help.

Chief medical officer, Dame Sally Davies, issued a ‘high alert’ to all NHS staff yesterday, warning they be vigilant.

She urged all health professionals to take a full travel history from any patient complaining of, or showing signs of having a fever.

And Vivienne Nathanson, the British Medical Association’s senior director, today said any Britons who suspected they had contracted Ebola should phone for medical assistance rather than walk into a hospital or go to their GP.

Meanwhile the Government revealed more than 750 British soldiers and a medical ship with be deployed to Sierra Leone, following an emergency meeting of the Cobra committee today.
