Ebola has been an inescapable news topic in recent weeks as the deadly virus continues to spread wildly, ravaging Africa.

According to the World Health Organization, it has infected 6,242 people in Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria and Senegal, has killed 2,909, and could affect as many as 1.4 million people by January 2015 if it’s not controlled quickly.

While the statistics can be mind-blowing from so far away, what about the people who dedicate their lives to helping those in the poorest parts of the world, for whom the Ebola outbreak has now become a daily challenge?

Popdust spoke with Katie Meyer, who founded of the More Than Me in Liberia, and she offered up an insight into the depth of the horror, and how people can help.

Why did the situation there particularly draw you?
