After we recently broke the news about the U.S. government’s patent on the human Ebola virus, many of our readers asked for more information explaining how this could possibly be the case. Well, this article will break down the actual patent for so-called “EboBun,” which shortly after being identified back in 2007 was deposited with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and claimed by the U.S. government as its own “invention.”

Here, you will see the actual patent for human Ebola virus as cataloged by Google and stamped with the official publication number “CA 2741523 A1.” You will also notice that the patent was filed by six individuals representing the U.S. government, including the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the CDC.
