Russia’s foreign ministry said “there will be a reaction” if the European Union implements new sanctions over the Ukraine crisis.
In a statement they said: “If they (new sanctions) are implemented of course there will be a reaction from our side.”
They did not specify what that would entail.
A further 24 people will have their assets frozen and be added to the list of people barred from entry to the 28-nation bloc, when the new sanctions are implemented on Monday.
However, the EU said they could be suspended if Moscow withdraws its troops from Ukraine and observes a newly agreed ceasefire.
