According to WHO, Liberia registered 117 confirmed Ebola deaths, 97 probable deaths and 41 suspected deaths until August 1
Amidst an outbreak of the deadly virus, several major hospitals in Liberia are closed to the public devoting all their attention to Ebola cases.
The External Love Winning Africa (ELWA) is one of the oldest referral hospitals in Monrovia and attends to over one hundred patients a day.
Today, those coming to the hospital are met with a “Hospital Closed” sign on its front entry, which is now manned by police officers.
In a tour of the facility by AA reporter, the hospital appeared almost like a ghost camp.
It no longer accepts patients whether under critical emergency situation or not.
All patients earlier admitted have been discharged, including those who had recently undergone surgical operations.
Only the Ebola unit remains open to the public.
