Hello Steve,
We live in northeastern Pennsylvania. My husband went to get feed this
morning in Benton. He bought molasses sweetened oats. Boy did the price
shock him. $19.55 for 80lbs. Last time was $16.00 and in December, was
$13.55. The guy on the loading dock said, there are no oats to be found.
They had to send a truck to Canada for 156,000 bushels @ $7.00 a bushel. A
year ago, locally could be bought for $3.00 per bushel. He said that when
it was planting time, it was too wet and the ground was still frozen.
Harvest time here is in about 3 weeks. The local farmers who had saved
cleaned oat seed for this years planting, brought it in and sold it to
them. My husband thought about this when he got home-They were stupid to
sell it back to them, as now they will not have seed to save for next years
oat crop. The dock man also said, feed is going to go off the wall. We
have Amish neighbors. They tried to plow in late March and April, and the
ground was still too frozen. They have only gotten their field corn
planted, within the last several weeks. If we have a early frost in the
fall, the crops will never make it. Also, we have not seen a single honey
bee. Oh my !
If ever there was a time to garden like never before, and to buy extra

The lord has always blessed us and we always have had, more than extra
garden goodies to share with friends, neighbors and strangers.
