Colorado: Bill to Repeal Restrictions on Rifle & Shotgun Purchases Passes House & Heads to Governor

Charlotte, NC –(Ammoland.com)- Yesterday, Senate Bill 135 passed the Colorado House of Representatives by a 61-1 vote and now heads to Governor John Hickenlooper’s (D) desk for his consideration.
SB 135, sponsored by state Senator Greg Brophy (R-1), would repeal restrictions in state law relating to the purchase and sale of rifles and shotguns in non-contiguous states, and permit the purchase and sale of firearms in states not bordering Colorado by both residents and non-residents.
This long-overdue legislation will align Colorado with forty other states that already allow their residents to purchase rifles and shotguns in non-contiguous states, provided that the purchase or transfer complies with state and federal law. It would also allow for the sale of rifles and shotguns to residents of non-contiguous states. Currently, Colorado residents can only legally purchase long guns in bordering states. SB 135 repeals this outdated restriction, allowing Colorado residents the freedom to purchase long guns in states beyond their immediate borders.
