A Boring woman, Linda Owens, died Jan. 25 at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland after being diagnosed with the H1N1 virus, said her husband, D.W. Owens.

Owens, who was 66, had other health problems, her husband said, including diverticulitis, gall stones and an enlarged liver.

“She also had trouble with low blood pressure, and it got to the point that her heart gave out,” he said.

Owens said his wife, owner of Linal Art Stained Glass in Boring, was well-known in the Portland area and created “hundreds of beautifully designed custom designed stained glass windows for residential clients” as well as for Kenton Presbyterian Church and Bethel A.M.E Church in Portland and Willamette Falls Hospital in Oregon City.

Before Owens’ death, a total of eight people had died in Oregon after catching the H1N1 virus, according to KOIN TV News, including 5-year-old Ronan Burgess of Eugene, who died in early January.
