If there’s one thing Javier Sedillo’s family wants the public to take away from their loss it’s the importance of getting the flu shot.

The State of Arizona doesn’t track the number of adults who die from the flu but according to the Arizona Department of Health Services the group with the most flu cases are people ages 19 to 49. The virus not only claiming the lives of elderly people and infants young, but relatively healthy people like Javier Sedillo are dying from the flu.

A father, a husband, and a man with a passion for justice. Javier Sedillo died from the flu at just 38 years-old.

“It is a tragedy, it is a shock, I don’t think people can rationalize how something like this can happen,” said Isaac Cordova.

Sedillo earned his law degree from Arizona State University. He first became a City of Phoenix prosecutor then turned to representing people, many cast aside by society, as a defense lawyer

“He was a firm believer that people always had a good side to them,” said Cordova.
