Bay Area flu death toll climbs to 15

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Four more people have died from the flu in the Bay Area, increasing the death toll this season to 15.
On Monday Sonoma, Santa Clara and San Mateo counties all reported additional flu-related deaths. In Sonoma a 54-year-old with underlying medical conditions died. Santa Clara officials reported two new deaths, no information was released on those victims. San Mateo County officials announced another person under the age of 65 had died there.
Santa Clara County Public Health Department spokeswoman Amy Cornell said that 13 other severe cases were currently being treated at local hospitals in the South Bay.
