Radionuclide Transport from Fukushima to Eastern North Pacific, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, 2013 PICES Annual Meeting on October 15, 2013:

The Labrador Current “meets the warm Gulf Stream [near] the Outer Banks of North Carolina […] one of the richest fishing grounds in the world.

Samples [were] collected in 2012 at several arctic stations to evaluate Pacific Water inflow of radioactivity to the Beaufort Sea. […]Why Measure 137Cs in Arctic?Pacific water contaminated with Fukushima 137Cs flows through Bering Strait and mixes with underlying Atlantic water labeled with 137Cs from Sellafield nuclear fuel reprocessing plant and Chernobyl accident.

Surface outflow of Pacific water through [the Canadian] Archipelago and Fram Strait can potentially contaminate Atlantic water. […]

Fukushima 134Cs was not [detected] in June 2012 […] at arctic stations.

According to the model by Behrens et al. (2012), the plume arrived in the Bering Sea at the end of October 2012 — around 600 days after March 11, 2011.
