WSJ, Nov. 25, 2013: Water containing radioactive materials has been leaking from storage tanks and drains at the plant into groundwater and the nearby ocean, raising concerns across the world that currents might spread radioactivity to faraway places.

Fox Business, Nov. 8, 2013 (at 1:30 in): We’ve been told that the radioactive water that may wash ashore from the Fukushima area has actually been diluted to the point where at least scientists are telling us it’s not dangerous.

KEZI, Nov. 21, 2013: It’s more than 2 years since the deadly earthquake and tsunami in Japan and there are still serious concerns about radioactive material that spilled out of the Fukushima nuclear plant. Will it reach our beach? Researchers here at OSU have been monitoring the radiation levels in wildlife along the West Coast and their discoveries might come as a surprise.

Kathryn Higley, a professor and the Department Head of Nuclear Engineering and Radiation Health Physics at Oregon State University: Felt ‘absolutely’ safe while at Fukushima plant standing on top of Unit 4 […] “Immediately following the accident, right along the coast of Japan, right next to the plant, there were some elevated concentrations […] We don’t expect any adverse consequences to the animals, to the marine species, to people consuming those species from the releases at Fukushima […] Epidemiologists are saying that they do not expect that they’ll ever be able to see an uptick in cancer in [Japan’s] population attributed to Fukushima”
