Wave of earthquake tremors rock the Balkans

CROTIA – Four earthquakes were recorded in only a few hours in Croatia and in neighboring Greece and Romania in the past 48 hours. An earthquake of magnitude 4.8 was recorded in Croatia at 9.58 am, the European Seismological Center announced. The quake occurred at a depth of 2 km 38 km northeast of Split. There were no reported casualties or property damage. At 6.12 am another quake of a magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter scale was registered near the Greek island of Crete. Its epicenter was 94 km south of the island. The third earthquake in the row occurred on the night to Monday in the Romanian Vrancea seismic region. Measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale, the quake was at a depth of 10 km. Yesterday afternoon the residents of Kosovo felt that that the ground was moving under their feet: this fourth earthquake of 4.3 on the Richter scale was even sensed in higher buildings in Sofia, Bulgaria. –Standart
