Tehran, (SANA) – Chairman of the Foreign Policy and National Security Committee at the Iranian Shura Council, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, stressed that his country will not stand idly by against the illegal and illogical attack on Syria.
In a statement to al-Alam News Channel, Boroujerdi said on Monday “We support our allies in the region and will not stand idly by, and the response will be by the military personnel.”
“The Syrian people know that the U.S. aggression on their country contradicts law and they are watching the crimes perpetrated by the West-U.S.-backed Takfiri extremists, which makes them stand by the side of their government,” the Iranian official said.
“Syria expects a U.S. aggression, and our vision after our talks with Syrian senior officials is that they are very serious regarding the response to any potential aggression…and that is normal because the element that they face is the Zionist Entity, so the consequent events are unpredictable due to a possible intervention by Syria’s friends,” Boroujerdi clarified.
He pointed out that Russia will not allow the repetition of former mistakes, and its reaction will be different from its response regarding the intervention in Libya.
“The Russian navy is at a military position to defend Russia’s interests in the Middle East, thus a possible U.S. aggression on Syria would leave unpredictable consequences, pointing out that Syria, at the same time, is a strong military county and it possesses advanced missiles and a sophisticated air defense system , as a result, the Syrian response is not going to be ordinary,” Boroujerdi said.
