While we can only speculate what Washington thinks, we can read what others conclude. In two pieces published in Forbes by Larry Bell (March 10) and Ralph Benko (March 13) they question what Washington is planning on doing with all the bullets, automatic rifles, and armored personnel carriers recently purchased or acquired from the Army by the Department of Homeland Security.

A concerned public, through then public means, discovered a large stockpiling of bullets by the DHS. Several aspects of the purchase could be considered suspicious. The first concerning question: Why so many bullets? The number is over a billion rounds, which is a volume not seen before and out of the range of normal use.
