KING CITY – A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck Central California just before midnight Saturday, shaking homes throughout the region.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported the earthquake occurred about 16 miles east-northeast of King City just after 11:55 p.m.
Kings County residents felt the earthquake and immediately responded on a thread set up on the Hanford Sentinel Facebook page.
Evelyn Delgadillo said she was at home in Hanford when the shaking started.
“I was getting ready to yell at one of the kids for moving my chair while I was on the computer,” she said, “only to turn around and see that no one was there.”
