SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (MarketWatch) — Yes, strong language, but after a while you get tired of all the happy talk, the cliches, slogans and token policies to placate voters. Say it loud: Earth, the planet that feeds us with its stockpile of commodity resources, is under assault. We’re killing our lifeblood … and our leaders are not leading, not planning ahead.

Why? The truth is, neither party is an advocate for Planet Earth. Neither is trying to stop the relentless march to WWIII, the Population Time Bomb that Bill Gates and other billionaires warned about three years ago. The time bomb keeps tick-ticking away as the world adds 100 million new people each year, exploding from 7 billion today to an unsustainable 10 billion by 2050, a deadly tipping point when the planet can no longer feed everyone.

Yes, Democrats try, but not enough: Obama touts oil-import reductions of 10%, one million barrels in a year. Plus he says he’s “taking unprecedented action to build a foundation for a clean-energy economy, tackle the issue of climate change, and protect our environment.” But when Obama caves to Big Oil on the Keystone XL Pipeline and tax credits, his policies look more like window dressing.

Our planet needs real advocates. But there are so few. We’re in a new age where the Super Rich and Big Energy are betting big money on politicians that promise to help them get richer and protect their fortunes, not protect the environment.

Today the Dems’ softball game is no match against hundreds of millions spent by the Super Rich and Big Energy to get pro-capitalism/anti-environmental candidates elected to Congress.

Meanwhile our planet and its 7 billion people are the losers, no defenders, no superheroes fighting to protect our long-term survival.

Billionaires bet against Planet Earth because no short-term profits
