A 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Costa Rica at 4:42 a.m. on Sept. 5, according to the U.S. Geological Service.
A Tsunami watch and warning is in effect for parts of the Pacific loacted closer to the earthquake, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. There’s a chance that Hawaii could reach warning status.
