Deep 5.4 magnitude earthquake strikes Sunda Strait

INDONESIA – A moderate earthquake measuring 5.4 magnitude on the Richter scale occurred in the Sunda Strait at 1.59 pm today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department. The epicenter of the earthquake was 179 km west of Jakarta, Indonesia and 847 km south of Johor Baharu, Johor, the MMD department said in a statement. No tsunami threat was reported for the region. The earthquake was very deep and rumbled more than 172.5 (107 miles) beneath the ocean floor. The earthquake was a short distance from the Anak Krakatau volcano, which is also in Sunda Strait. – The Extinction Protocol
