Aldous Huxley in his 1932 Brave New World said a really efficient totalitarian state would be one in which the all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers (czars) control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because they love their servitude which brings us to the airport gropings, cancer causing cumulative radiation scanners and dirty gloves.

Are today’s leaders, who have been dreaming for decades for more control over our business, economy and personal lives, about to slam shut the communist gate? Its younger sister, socialism has been putting regulatory and entitlement posts in the ground since President Wilson with the unconstitutional Federal Reserve followed by the FDR era with Social Security, Johnson with Medicare and Medicaid and not wanting to be outdone by the Democrats, Republican president George W. Bush with his prescription drug boondoggle causing the U.S. to become insolvent. We were allowed to walk back and forth between the posts and then we had 9/11 and George W. Bush’s Patriot Act when the barbwire fence was strung on the posts but the gate remained open but with more and more restrictions on freedom to travel. Will we wake up one of these mornings to find the gate closed but the borders still open? Those who wanted “safety” over “liberty” may end up with neither.

Are President Barack Obama and his administration trying to break the airlines by scaring and inconveniencing riders and jeopardizing our economy? Why would I say that? Didn’t he take over the auto industry? The banks? And more recently Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has mentioned buses, cruise ships and the railroad for additional gropings and nude photos.

Napolitano said if the public does not like it, too bad. They should not fly. Frankly, I think this is simply another Testing 1-2-3 to see how long Americans will tolerate these dictatorial excesses. It is also being exposed that President George Bush’s first Director of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff may now be profiting from those clothes-penetrating scanners at airports. Follow the money! His consulting firm represents companies who make the scanners.
